Fall into Fall - It's a Party # 89

Welcome to this week's Fall into Fall party.
UPDATE-
We have no Internet service so I will leave this party up until I can post again. I was able to add this update using 3G on my iPhone. They just cancelled my kids school for the rest of the week. One week off for a storm. This is truly unprecedented!

I hope everyone who was in Hurricane Sandy's path made it through safe and sound.  Last week's party was filled with so much inspiration.  Here are this week's features:

HOME DECOR:
At Home on the Bay  revealed her master bedroom makeover.
I just love the drapes she made using Ikat fabric.  Stunning!

Designed to Dwell showed off her newly redesigned dining room.  Beautiful.

FURNITURE TRANSFORMATIONS:
Betsy Speert  turned this trash into a real treasure.  She gives a full step by step tutorial on how she reupholstered this chair.  Gorgeous!
Shabby Love  transformed a bench using a grain sack.
CRAFTY CREATIONS:
Chase the Star transformed a three dollar tray to create this super chic one using paint and a stencil.
Under the Suburban Sun hand-painted these mugs.  What a great gift idea.

TASTY TREATS:
Happiest Mom on the Blog  shared her recipe for fat free apple cake.  Now that's my kind of recipe.
Crafty Home Improvement (Mis)Adventures shared her recipe for cowboy casserole.
What a yummy looking meal.

Crochet Door Hanger

Hurricane Sandy is really hitting us hard right now.  While staying safe and sound inside from the storm, I decided to try one of the crafts I have pinned.

Here is my finished project.  I followed the tutorial from this blog.

I have been wanting to try this for sometime, but I didn't have a plastic bracelet.  While cleaning out the kids toy closet today, I found this heart shaped bracelet.  Perfect.
I had to adjust the tutorial to fit the bracelet.  I crocheted a single crochet all around the perimeter.
I slip-stiched to the first stitch when I made it all around.
I then crocheted a double crochet into each stitch all the away around.
I then skipped two stitches and then crocheted seven double crochet into that stitch, then skipped two stitches and slip stitched into that stitch.  I continued this all the way around and then slip-stitched when I got to the beginning.
I then went to my Silhouette machine and created this (my daughter's initial) to insert in the frame.
I then crocheted a chain to create a loop to hang on my daughter's door.
I can't wait to hear what you think.

Don't forget to stop back tonight for my Fall into Fall party.

The link opens at 8pm EST.
Hope to see you then.

The Calm Before the Storm

Hurricane Sandy is on it's way.  We live about thirty miles outside of New York City.  It's Monday morning and most of New York City has closed down so my husband is home from work.  The schools are all closed here so my kids are home as well.  New York and New Jersey have declared a state of emergency, so we are staying put.  As of this morning the winds have just started to pick up.
It's the calm before the storm.  We are as prepared as we can be.
Last year New York had a huge Halloween snow storm.
That storm caused severe damage in our area and many of our friends were without power for over a week.  We only lost power for five hours and I knew I never wanted that to happen again.
So last year we installed a generator.
I think we are prepared for just about anything.
I have plans for some crafting and home projects to keep us busy during the next two days.

I hope all of you effected by Hurricane Sandy keep safe during the storm.

Project Gallery

I've been blogging just over two years now, and I decided to take a look back at some of the projects I have created.  With over 550 posts, that's a whole bunch of projects.
Last night I started to put together a project gallery page that you can find at the top of my blog.
Here are a few of my favorites:

I'll be adding more to the list as I go through more posts.  Be sure to check out the rest of the project gallery at the top of my blog.
Have a great weekend!!

Clay Napkin Ring Tutorial

The other day I shared with you my first attempt at using clay.
I made some clay tags that were super easy to make.

I thought I would try something different.
I bought an owl stamp from AC Moore.
I rolled out a thin strip of clay and wrapped it around a paper towel roll.

I then stamped out a piece of clay with the owl and cut around it using a paring knife.

I then baked both (paper towel roll and all) at 275 degrees for 15 minutes.
After it had cooled, I painted both pieces with craft paint.
I then used a hot glue to attach the owl to the holder.
I love my owl napkin rings.
I love working with clay.  I think it's my new favorite craft.
